3 Steps to Creating a Carpet Cleaning Maintenance Program
Carpets that are maintained properly not only look great but last much longer than poorly maintained carpets.
There are 3 steps to creating a carpet cleaning maintenance program that will help your customer's carpets look great and last longer.
- Daily Maintenance. Sometimes we think carpet doesn't need to be vacuumed because it doesn't look like it needs it. However, carpet can hide dirt and soil very well, so in order to keep it from deteriorating, it needs to be vacuumed regularly -- even if it doesn' look like it needs it. In most commercial settings, carpet should be vacuumed daily.
In addition, spills need to be cleaned as soon as possible. They're much easier to remove when fresh, so don't wait until there are several that need to be taken care of. - Interim Maintenance. Most property owners and managers like to save money, so sometimes they think they can get by with very infrequent carpet cleaning. What they don't realize is that they're sacrificing the life of the carpet to save a few bucks now. In the long run, they'll end up spending even more money because the carpet will need to be replaced sooner.
Interim carpet cleaning incorporates spin bonneting the carpet with a slow speed rotary machine and cotton looped bonnets. Spin bonneting removes soil from the top portion of the carpet, which is a great way to get the carpet looking cleaner and brighter without spending a lot of money.
Interim maintenance is usually performed quarterly or every six months, and can involve all carpet surfaces, or just traffic lanes, depending on the soil load. - Deep Cleaning. All carpet needs to be deep cleaned, wall-to-wall, on a regular basis, usually once per year. Deep cleaning involves extracting soil from deep within the carpet fibers with a commercial carpet machine.
By incorporating the above 3 steps into your carpet maintenance program, you'll not only keep your customers' carpets looking great, but you'll save them money too!
