3 Effective Ways to Use Janitorial Customer Testimonials
So you've gotten some great customer reviews for your janitorial service. Now what? You certainly don't want to sit on them! There are plenty of ways to use janitorial customer testimonials to your advantage so you can generate leads and book even more happy customers, continuing the cycle!
How to Get the Most Out of Your Customer Testimonials
Before we get into what to do with testimonials, we should discuss some best practices for getting the most out of them. If you're going to be posting and promoting them everywhere, you want them to look and sound good.
Make your customer testimonials specific.
Either use ones people have already written that detail exactly what you did for them, or, even better, solicit reviews from your best customers. That way you can ask them for specific information and make sure they tell a story with a beginning, middle, and end about the problem they had, how you addressed it, and how their life was so much better afterward. Steer away from customers who simply say “they did a great job! My office/building was so clean afterward!” In the janitorial industry, “clean” is the bare minimum. You want to distinguish yourself from the competition in other ways.
If you can, make a video.
It's pretty common knowledge that videos catch a lot more attention than words on social media. And putting a face to the names and words of your customers will make your reviews much more trustworthy in the eyes of your audience. A well-shot video goes a lot farther than a few lines of text.
Make the social profiles of your reviewers available to view.
If you're creating testimonials with loyal customers, ask their permission to put their social handles or other contact info in the description so people can contact them directly to verify their claims. Fake reviews do circulate, so giving your audience a way to verify that the reviewer a. is a real person and b. genuinely thinks highly of your company will make you an even more reliable source in their eyes. Most people will not take the extra step to verify the identity of the reviewer, but just making it an option makes a big difference to a lot of people. If it's a review that someone wrote, you can tag them on social media if possible, saying “Thanks, [@name], for your excellent review!”
Tailor reviews to specific audience personas.
You don't want to lean on just one review to speak to every type of customer. Undoubtedly you have different clients that you serve–corporations, schools, businesses–and even if you focus specifically on cleaning schools or offices, there is surely variation within those clients as well. So be sure to find/create a range of testimonials from different clients and for different services that you provide. Maybe one testimonial talks about your window cleaning service while another focuses on your appliance cleaning. You want to have plenty of different types of reviews so you can cater to different audiences when necessary.
How to Use Your Reviews
Now that you've got these fabulous reviews in hand, it's time to distribute them far and wide! Here are three effective ways to do so:
On Social Media
With billions of users on social media, you really can't afford to skip out on this one. As we mentioned above, videos are king, so use them on Facebook, in your Instagram stories, and even in live feeds to show people that your janitorial services are relevant and top-notch. Quote cards and eye-catching before-and-after photos are also great ways to use your reviews to get people to stop scrolling on social media and click on your content. Similarly, you can run social media ads with these reviews as another way to put your services in front of people who have previously searched for keywords related to your services or who have otherwise indicated through their search habits that they are in the market for janitorial services.
In Your Marketing Materials
This includes your website, your paper collateral, your email marketing, your blog, and your website. Anywhere that you are writing about your business, include reviews! They are easily one of, if not the most important factor that customers consider when making a purchasing decision. Make them big, make them bold, but make them look good, and make them look reliable. (We've all seen and can spot reviews that are obviously fake or “not an actor” disclaimers that are less than convincing.)
At a Trade Show, Conference, or Event
When out in the world pitching your services to potential clients, don't be afraid to make a poster, show a video, or hand out pamphlets with your fabulous reviews on them. Again, they will speak to customers in a way that your own words about your business never could. (Maybe even bring someone along who can speak in person about their great experience with your business?)
