Attending Cleaning Trade Shows, Part Two
In Part One of this series of articles about trade shows, we discussed what trade shows are and how to prepare for them. In this article, we will pick up where we left off and discuss the things you need to know while you are attending the show. First of all, be prepared for a long day or days. Comfortable shoes are a must, as you will be on your feet a lot. Business casual clothing is appropriate, but remember that you are representing the company and your appearance is important. Allow adequate room in your suitcase for freebies, literature, and product samples. While some exhibitors will provide a bag for such items, it would be wise to bring along a carryall for such items. While at the show, here is a short list of tips to follow:
Let's face it--this is the big day. You've spent all this money and made all the necessary arrangements to be there. Now is not the time to be complacent or bashful. Networking is a HUGE reason why we attend trade shows. Bring plenty of business cards and introduce yourself to as many people as you can, but be careful not to linger too long with exhibitors with whom you don't anticipate doing business. Take this opportunity to set up breakfast, lunch, or dinner meetings with fellow attendees. This is a good opportunity to "talk shop" with people you may not otherwise get an opportunity to be around. Share experiences and learn from each other.
