Free Marketing Ideas for Cleaning Companies
Steve Hanson
When times are tough we look for ways to save money. That goes for businesses too. If you have a cleaning business, there are many things you can do to market your business that doesn't have to cost a small fortune. Here are just a few: - Submit articles to your local newspaper. This works better with small town newspapers or local community newspapers. When submitting articles, send them directly to the editor or to the person in charge of the appropriate section of the newspaper -- don't send them to the sports editor! The article should be timely and have a compelling headline.
- Submit articles to local magazines. Many communities publish their own magazine, and some even publish a women's magazine. The authors of the magazine articles are usually people who live in the community so they're always looking for new writers.
- Make a Public Service Announcement on the radio. Many local radio stations have a particular time of day where they make public service announcements. They usually invite guests who are involved in a community event or who have an unusual or noteworthy topic. Get creative and suggest an topic or talk about a local event the you're involved with.
- Post videos to YouTube. You might record an employee meeting where you ask your employee why they like cleaning. Then post the video to your website so prospective clients can see your happy employees. Who wouldn't want to hire a cleaning company that has employees who love to clean?
- Join LinkedIn and Facebook and connect with local business owners. When attending local networking events, find out who is on LinkedIn or Facebook and invite them to join you online. Building relationships is key to growing your business and these days you don't have to do it all in person! You can build very solid relationships with people online.
- Volunteer. Volunteering is a great way to get involved in your community and build relationships. Don't think about marketing your business while volunteering, rather think about making friends. Eventually you'll learn more about your fellow volunteers and they'll learn more about you. This is how relationship-building works.
- Make a donation to a silent auction at a business event. Many Chambers of Commerce hold member events and are often looking for donations for silent auctions. Put together a basket of cleaning-related items like microfiber cloths, carpet spotters, brushes, etc. Your business will be acknowledged.
Marketing your cleaning business doesn't have to be scary or boring - you can make it fun! When you think outside the box, you'll find lots of ways to get yourself and your business name out in the community. That's when the REAL fun begins! Copyright © The Janitorial Store (TM)
