Here's what our members are saying...

"This is the best site that I've visited. I am so glad that you guys started this up. I mean you could search the internet for different topics and such; but you don't get everything in one place. The advice is always good. Thanks a bunch."

"Jean and Steve - I am so happy that I found this website. Because of you all, I was able to sell my franchise and start my own cleaning business. I am so excited but at the same time nervous. I sold my franchise in August and start cleaning three new buildings in September. Steve and Jean you are truly a blessing. I am so free. There is not enough words to say how grateful I am that I found this site, you all are so helpful. May God continue to bless you."

"Just want to say thank you for doing an INCREDIBLY good job. I log in almost every day, and your work is incredibly helpful in many ways to me and my business. Thank you!"

"I wanted to tell you that I think what you guys are doing is incredible. I have yet to start my new company, still in the beginning stages, and feel so blessed to have found your web site. Thank you for all you do to help people and the time you put into this as well. I am glad I have become a member and feel you guys will play a big role in our success."

VIDEO: Recycled Floor Pads from Americo Mfg.

Printer-Friendly Format

This video was shot at the 2008 BSCAI Convention and Trade Show. If you're serious about offering green cleaning services, then you need to think about the equipment and supplies you use too. Americo Mfg. is a supplier of hard floor pads. And they're the only manufacturer that they know of that makes it's pads from recycled material - plastic water bottles!

Video Recap:

Eighty percent of floor pad content is fiber, typically polyester. For the past seven years, Americo has used 100% polyester in their floor pads, hand pads, and scrubbing sponges. All of their polyester comes from recycled water bottles and soda bottles, the highest polyester grade made.

The bottles are cleaned, disinfected, and ground up into flake. The flake is heated and extruded out into new fiber. It takes 38 water or soda bottles to make one case of 20" floor pads. The Americo process prevents bottles from going back into landfills. Also, no phenol-formaldehyde is used in their binding process, which is entirely water-based. Today many contractors and clients ask if a company is green. Americo has worked with a U. of Georgia professor to look into proper disposal of floor pads. They have found that incinerating the pads may create enough BTU's to be reused as energy, although the method for doing so must still be developed.
